Simon Fujiwara's Who's Online! App for Fondazione Prada

Simon Fujiwara, an Anglo-Japanese artist based in Berlin, has created the app Who's Online! as part of his exhibition Who the Bær at Fondazione Prada in Milan, running until September 27, 2021. The app offers an interactive digital tour of the exhibition, which centers on a gender-neutral cartoon bear named Who the Bær, conceived during the 2020 lockdown. The bear's world includes references to Elon Musk and Grimes (who plan to raise their child as gender neutral), brands like Amazon and Redbull, and figures such as Michelle Obama and Greta Thunberg. The app uses stop-frame animation and allows users to explore the exhibition's layout, which resembles a Frank Gehry cardboard architecture. Users can access multimedia content, interviews, and animations by clicking on the bear's yellow heart, though the app sometimes freezes when zooming or requires restarting. Fujiwara's work continues his exploration of identity, gender, sexuality, marketing, branding, environmental responsibility, religion, and the cult of celebrity architects.
