Simon Berger and Bill Claps Perform Equinox Art in Val Camonica
On September 22, 2024, at 14:42, artists Simon Berger and Bill Claps will perform 'Equinox Collaborative Performance' at the Parco Archeologico di Seradina–Bedolina in Capo di Ponte, Val Camonica. The performance captures a natural light phenomenon during the autumn equinox that illuminates the mountains Pizzo Badile (masculine) and Concarena (feminine). This event also inaugurates Studio Camonica, a new collaborative workspace for Claps in the medieval village of Bienno, in partnership with Associazione Bienno Borgo Artisti 2.0 and the Comune di Bienno, co-curated by Cinzia Bontempi and Bill Claps. Berger is known for breaking glass with a hammer to create images (morphogenesis), while Claps combines photography with painting and uses metal blades to reflect light. Val Camonica is a UNESCO World Heritage site with over 300,000 ancient rock carvings dating back 10,000 years, and the light phenomenon may have inspired prehistoric religious and artistic activity.
