Simeri Laboratorio Urbano: rigenerazione culturale in Calabria
Since 2021, the annual interdisciplinary summer school Simeri Laboratorio Urbano has taken place in Simeri, a dwindling village in Calabria with around 160 inhabitants. The 2024 session, organized by Asperitas, the Municipality of Simeri Crichi, and Borneo Architecture, included instructors such as Flavio Mancuso, Sabrina Morreale, Lorenzo Perri, Sven Kohlschmidt, Matteo Fiorentino, Antonio de Paola, Antonio Seghini, and street artist Massimo Sirelli. The theme was "Hhocu sutta cinnara" ("fire under the ashes"). In September 2024, the Centro Culturale Collettivo (CCC) was launched, created collaboratively by international students and tutors to foster community engagement. The upcoming Simeri Laboratorio Urbano is planned for the first two weeks of September.
