Silvia Mei's 'Dolcissime nevrosi' at ArteCircuito, Sassari

Silvia Mei (born 1985 in Cagliari, lives in Bergamo) presents her first solo exhibition, 'Dolcissime nevrosi', at ArteCircuito in Sassari. The show features paintings that blend bad painting style with references to Hieronymus Bosch and James Ensor. Mei's works depict post-apocalyptic characters with tender yet menacing expressions, revealing psychological suffering. She uses acrylic colors, collage, feathers, petals, and polyurethane foam to create textured faces. The exhibition includes a large canvas with the text 'Grazie Matteo ♥' on a blood-red background. Mei studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Sassari and specialized in painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan. She previously collaborated with Studio d'Arte Cannaviello, where she had her last solo show, 'L'odore', in 2016. Her recent group exhibitions include 'Back_Up. Giovane arte in Sardegna' at Museo Nivola in Orani (2020) and 'RealisticAbstraction' at Robert Kananaj Gallery in Toronto (2018). ArteCircuito is a cultural association promoting contemporary art by young artists and 20th-century Sardinian masters.
