Silvia Giambrone's Fukushima-Inspired Collages at Studio Miscetti
Silvia Giambrone's exhibition 'Dillo con i fiori' at Studio Stefania Miscetti in Rome presents collages and a video that respond to the Fukushima nuclear disaster. The collages feature mutated daisies found near Fukushima, with two corollas and sinuous forms, cut and pixelated on Japanese paper. The video '6 Agosto, Mon Amour' (first prize Smartup Optima 2016) shows a clock stopped at the moment of the atomic explosion; the artist moves the minute hand forward and adds a second hand that oscillates in agony. The work was inspired by an interview with Shoso and Keiko, Hibakusha (survivors) who describe ongoing trauma and social marginalization. The exhibition runs until December 6, 2016.
