Silvia Bächli's Dual Exhibitions in France

Swiss artist Silvia Bächli presents two concurrent exhibitions in France, showcasing her distinctive drawing practice. At Domaine de Kerguéhennec in Bignan (January 27 to March 24, 2002), the focus is on polyptychs and serial works, with silkscreens displayed in the sheepfold. At Trafic – Frac de Haute-Normandie in Sotteville-lès-Rouen (January 18 to March 10, 2002), a thematic approach highlights the body and flowers, alongside photographs. Bächli's daily ritual involves producing numerous drawings, then rigorously selecting only a few for presentation. Her work spans abstract signs (grids, interlacings) and figurative motifs (objects, bodies, architecture, landscapes), often incorporating small texts or numbers. Critic Jean-Marc Huitorel notes that each drawing is an experiential moment, resisting simple categorization. A third exhibition is scheduled from May 24 to September 8, 2002, at the Musée d'Art Moderne et Contemporain de Strasbourg. Bächli is represented in France by Galerie Ph. Nelson, where she exhibited in 2001.
