Silent Academy: migrant artisans showcase skills in Matera
The Silent Academy project enables migrant artists and master artisans in Italy to rediscover and apply their creative skills, fostering cultural exchange between local heritage and global knowledge. The initiative manifests through performances, installations, and workshops. One example is an artwork inspired by hospitality and the Festa della Bruna, Matera's patron saint festival celebrated on July 2. Created by migrant master artisans, the installation is temporarily housed in Matera's city center from June 20, World Refugee Day, and after July 2, it will be relocated to Parco del Brancaccio at the entrance of the Brancaccio nursing home. The project runs from June 20 to July 7, 2019, at Casa di Riposo Brancaccio, Via degli Etruschi 1.
