Signal Festival 2024 Transforms Prague with Digital Art

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

The Signal Festival, now in its 12th year, will take place from October 10 to 13, 2024, turning Prague's historic center into a canvas for 22 digital installations. Curated by Pavel Mrkus, the theme 'Ecosystems II: Quest' explores the intersection of reality and artifice. For the first time, Prague Castle (9th-century fortified complex) becomes a festival venue, featuring AI-driven projections by Jiří Příhoda reinterpreting Renaissance painting techniques, and a videomapping installation 'Eternal Recurrence' by Filip Hodas on the Archbishop's Palace facade. London studio United Visual Artists (UVA) presents 'Strange Attractions' at Kunsthalle Praha, based on chaos theory. A second route includes videomapping 'The Rhythm of the Ocean' by Desilence on the Municipal Library, a sound installation 'Silent Echoes' by Bill Fontana at St. Giles Convent, and Quayola's video series 'Effets de Soir' at CAMP – Center for Architecture and Metropolitan Planning, paying homage to Monet and van Gogh. Artistic director Martin Pošta stated that transforming Prague Castle into a contemporary art space demonstrates the fusion of tradition and modernity, and the festival aims to become a global event for digital and immersive arts.
