Sigla Studio places green bathtub in living room of Barcelona apartment
Sigla Studio has renovated a 59-square-metre apartment in Barcelona's Turó Park neighbourhood, placing a green-tiled bathtub in the living room to challenge traditional domestic boundaries. The design, described as a 'continuous domestic landscape,' organizes the layout around a central core containing the bathroom, kitchen, and dressing room, allowing natural light and ventilation throughout. Co-founder Bernat Riera explained the studio questioned why bathrooms remain hidden while kitchens are socially integrated. The bathtub features a motorized pivoting window system for privacy. Materials include green glazed ceramic tiles by Cerámica Ferrés, plywood and aluminium for the kitchen, and walnut wood for the dressing room. The perimeter is finished in a continuous mineral coating. Sigla Studio collaborated with Barcelona-based gallery Fenix Originals to source restored vintage furniture from the 1960s–1980s by local Spanish and Catalan designers. Photography is by Marta Vidal.
