SIGHTSEEING: Mysticism and Mythology in Stockholm
Curated by Martin Jacobson, the group exhibition SIGHTSEEING at Andréhn-Schiptjenko in Stockholm presents six artists whose practices engage with mysticism and mythology, operating outside mainstream contemporary art norms. The featured artists are Aleksandra Waliszewska, David Tibet, Richard Cartwright, Olle Wärnbäck, Niklas Nenzén, and Hugo Lindblad. Richard Cartwright, who studied at Goldsmith’s College of Art in London, moved to Bristol in the 1980s and developed a distinctive visual logic independent of formal art education. David Tibet, founder of the experimental music group CURRENT 93, draws on apocryphal and apocalyptic Biblical texts, extending his interests into visual art, poetry, and publishing. The exhibition invites viewers into a space beyond conventional artistic boundaries.
