Sidsel Meineche Hansen's Work Explores Surveillance Capitalism Through CGI, Sculpture and Film
Sidsel Meineche Hansen, an artist originally from Denmark and currently residing in London, investigates the impacts of surveillance capitalism, the pharmaceutical sector, and pornography on individuals' bodies and minds. Their diverse portfolio encompasses CGI animation, woodcut, sculpture, installation, and publishing. The 2014 animation Seroquel® critiques the marketing strategies of AstraZeneca, featuring a female avatar and a voiceover by Lydia Lunch. The free 3D model EVA v.3.0 is showcased in animations such as NO RIGHT WAY 2 CUM (2015), which contested the British Board of Film Classification's regulations. Other notable works include HIS CORPORATE CUNT ART (2016), End-Used City (2019), and ONE-self (2015). Current exhibitions are at Rodeo Piraeus (until 26 March), Rodeo London (until 2 April), and The Milk of Dreams at La Biennale di Venezia (23 April to 27 November). A vinyl record titled ALIEN BABY 0 was released in February.
