SICIS Transforms Milan Showroom into Sensory Micro-Mosaic Experience for Design Week 2026

exhibition · 2026-04-22

During Milan Design Week 2026, SICIS presents "ELEMENTS: Jewel and design, beyond form," an immersive installation at its Brera showroom on Via Fatebenefratelli. The exhibition explores the four classical elements—Earth, Fire, Water, Air—as generative principles for micro-mosaic jewelry and interior design. Curated by Gioia Placuzzi, COO and Creative Director, the show features four distinct environments housing iconic pieces from the SICIS Jewels line, including collections Damisa (leopard-inspired, Fire), Quetzal (quetzal bird, Air), Iris Mauve (flower, Earth), and Anemone (marine flora, Water). Each piece combines ancient micro-mosaic technique with precious materials like gold, titanium, white diamonds, and tanzanite. The brand, founded in 1987 by Maurizio Leo Placuzzi in Cannuzzo di Cervia, has executed prestigious mosaic installations at the Ritz Paris, Burj Al Arab, and Bellagio Las Vegas. The Jewels line debuted at Baselworld with pieces by Roger Thomas and officially launched at Couture Las Vegas 2012, inspired by 19th-century micro-mosaics from the Gilbert Galleries at the Victoria and Albert Museum. The installation includes multisensory display cases where visitors hear sounds like crackling fire or flowing water. Large artistic serigraphs on the showroom windows engage passersby. The exhibition runs during Fuorisalone, with the showroom also featuring four interior design settings alongside the jewelry.
