Sicis Celebrates 30 Years with Micromosaic Exhibition in Ravenna
Sicis, a leading producer of decorative mosaics, celebrates its 30th anniversary with 'Destinazione Micromosaico', part of the fifth edition of the Ravenna Mosaico festival. The exhibition, designed by Crossmedia Group, occupies the entire piano nobile of Palazzo Rasponi dalle Teste, starting from the grand staircase. The first rooms feature 360° projections, digital frescoes, and zenithal videos narrating Sicis's history through portrait collections, icons, and faces by master mosaicists, with insights into production, materials, ancient mosaic art, and works inspired by classical art, Pop Art, and the Avant-garde. The Sala del Micromosaico displays jewelry made with micromosaic technique, which flourished in the 18th century and nearly vanished in the 19th. Sicis invested in studying and reviving this art, restoring it to the splendor of the Grand Tour era when royalty and nobility wore micromosaic jewelry. The exhibition concludes with image and video displays showcasing mastery in nature mosaics, ranging from Baroque and Renaissance floral arrangements to Eastern stylistic canons.
