Sicily allocates €11M to upgrade Palermo museums, led by Museo Riso expansion
Palermo's historic center has been allocated €11 million in funding by the Sicilian Region, with approval from CIPE and validation from the CIS Committee. A significant portion will be directed towards the renovation and expansion of Museo Riso, creating connections to Cassaro street, Piazza Bologni, Palazzo Belmonte Riso, and Piazza Gran Cancelliere. Assessore Alberto Samonà highlighted the importance of linking contemporary art with the historic area. An announcement for architectural tenders is forthcoming. Additional initiatives include €2.5 million for cultural services and youth entrepreneurship, €522,000 for 'Museo City', nearly €500,000 for 'Gioca Museo', and close to €1 million for the 'Sicily/Greece/Magna Graecia' exhibition. The agreement was signed with Undersecretary Anna Laura Orrico and regional officials.
