Shuzo Azuchi Gulliver's Guerrilla Laundry Installation at Venice Biennale 2026
During the 61st Venice Biennale, from May to June 30, 2026, Shuzo Azuchi Gulliver will present a guerrilla-style installation titled "A.T.C.G. / Laundry (Regeneration)" in the street spaces of Rio Terà S. Isepo. The project features eight semi-unique multiple works (edition of 8) displayed one per week over eight weeks on a laundry line between two houses. Each piece is part of Gulliver's long-running A.T.C.G. series, which links genetic code (DNA) with the act of hanging laundry to symbolize life's regeneration and continuity. The work addresses environmental issues and contemporary societal conditions, unfolding independently of official Biennale exhibitions. Gulliver, whose works were acquired by MoMA New York in 2020, previously exhibited at BankART1929 Yokohama in 2022 and participated in the Osaka Kansai International Art Festival in 2025. The project invites public engagement and explores the body's presence in shared social space.
