Shut Up Claudia: Portuguese Illustrator on Femininity and Color

Claudia Alexandrino, known as Shut Up Claudia, is a Portuguese illustrator and designer based in Milan. Her work focuses on the female figure, depicted with synthetic lines and bright colors in timeless spaces. She holds a master's degree in Communication Design from the University of Aveiro, enriched by an Erasmus experience at the Politecnico di Milano. Influenced by Isidro Ferrer, Alan Fletcher, and André da Loba, she started a blog called Cala-te Claudia during university, which evolved into her artistic alias. Her illustrations are characterized as sincere, colorful, and positive. Initially driven by a desire to express female empowerment, she has since refined her style, adding details and improving composition. She finds beauty in nature and simplicity, especially after the lockdown. Her creative process involves research, moodboards, conceptual maps, sketches, and digital tools like iPad and Photoshop. Currently, she is working on patterns for children's pencil cases for a brand, a poster for a group exhibition, and a monthly collaboration with Grazia UK through her agency Opera. She also has an animation project in the pipeline and plans to redesign her website.
