Shreya Mehta and Grown Brilliance Launch Diamond Dust Paintings at NYC Flagship

exhibition · 2026-05-01

Indian artist Shreya Mehta and Grown Brilliance CEO Akshie Jhaveri unveiled 'Diamond Nebula' at the brand's New York flagship store. The series features paintings made with hand-ground mineral pigments and lab-grown diamond fragments, inspired by NASA's discovery of 55 Cancri Ae, a planet believed to contain vast quantities of diamonds. Mehta created the works during a Jain practice of silent fasting (maun vrat), emphasizing ritual and natural materials. The collaboration repurposes diamond byproducts, aligning with Grown Brilliance's sustainability ethos. Proceeds from sales were donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Mehta's process involved layering diamond dust, shards, and prismatic fragments over weeks, exploring themes of pressure, light, and transformation. The works balance raw textures with atmospheric abstraction, evoking both cosmic and intimate sensibilities. Jhaveri noted that the project positions diamonds beyond luxury, as a medium for narrative and creation. Mehta is developing a new series on mirrors and reflection, while Grown Brilliance plans further artist collaborations.
