Short Theatre 2017: Multidisciplinary Festival in Rome Explores 'The Inner State'
The 12th edition of Short Theatre, a multidisciplinary festival combining theater, dance, and music, will take place from September 7 to 17, 2017, in Rome. Organized by AREA06 under the artistic direction of Fabrizio Arcuri, the festival features 35 companies (20 international, 15 Italian) and 150 artists. Venues include MACRO Testaccio (La Pelanda and Factory) and Teatro India. For the first time, artists from non-European countries such as Canada, Argentina, and India participate. The theme 'Lo Stato Interiore' (The Inner State) explores the intersection of intimacy and politics. Highlights include Rimini Protokoll's installation 'Nachlass – pièce sans personnes' (September 13-17 at Teatro India), directed by Stefan Kaegi and Dominic Huber, which presents eight personal stories through absent individuals. Ana Borralho & João Galante's 'Trigger of happiness' (September 8-9 at La Pelanda) uses a Russian roulette device to explore happiness with 12 Roman youths aged 18-23. Italian companies Motus, Fanny&Alexander, and ricci/forte present works: Motus' 'ÜBER RAFFICHE' (September 12-13), Fanny&Alexander's 'Discorso grigio' (September 15-16), and ricci/forte's 'La ramificazione del pidocchio' (September 10).
