Shopping Malls Challenge Museums with Immersive Art Experiences

Shopping centers are increasingly hosting virtual and immersive art exhibitions, challenging traditional museums. In Italy, the MondoJuve Shopping Center near Turin presents 'Leonardo da Vinci Experience' from March 27 to April 10, 2018, a free immersive show featuring a 10D cinema, interactive totems, and faithful reproductions of Leonardo's machines. The Franciacorta Outlet Village in Brescia hosts 'JapanPOP in Franciacorta: Takashi Murakami, Tomoko Nagao & more' from April 6 to May 6, 2018, with fifty works inside a boutique and outdoor installations. In Rome, 'Klimt Experience' runs from February 10 to June 10, 2018, at the Complesso Monumentale San Giovanni Addolorata, curated by art historian Sergio Risaliti, offering an 85-minute immersive journey through Klimt's life and works. Abroad, Carsten Höller created an installation at Aventura Mall in Miami. These exhibitions prioritize multimedia storytelling over original artworks, attracting general audiences and sparking debate among art professionals.
