Shooting at North Carolina Park Leaves Two Teenagers Dead and Five Injured

A violent incident unfolded at Leinbach Park in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on Monday morning, resulting in multiple casualties. Two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, were fatally shot around 10 a.m., while five other individuals sustained injuries ranging from critical to minor. According to Winston-Salem police, the confrontation began as a prearranged physical altercation between two juveniles, which escalated when a firearm was discharged. Authorities reported that four of the injured victims are female, with all victims being between 14 and 19 years old. Police Chief William Penn expressed frustration and sadness over the preventable tragedy, noting that no suspects were in custody immediately following the event. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation confirmed the shooting involved several victims, including two fatalities. Assistant Chief Jason Swaim detailed that the initial agreement to fight at the park led to the violent outcome. Investigators are working to determine whether any of those injured were also responsible for the shooting.
