Shirin Neshat's 'The Fury' Explores Female Trauma and Resistance

Galleri F 15 is showcasing 'The Fury,' an exhibition featuring the latest creations from Iranian artist and photographer Shirin Neshat. Captured in New York during June 2022, the exhibition includes a double-channel video installation, a virtual reality experience, and a collection of black-and-white photographs. The video installation explores the theme of sexual exploitation among women political prisoners, following the psychological journey of a young Iranian woman in the U.S. haunted by her past. The photographic series highlights the female form as a symbol of both desire and violence, adorned with hand-written verses from Iranian poet Forough Farrokhzad (1934-1967). Neshat’s work continues to address the complexities of the female body within Islamic cultures, especially in Iran, as a site of sin, repression, and resistance. 'The Fury' expands on her long-standing examination of women's issues both in Iran and worldwide.
