Shilpa Gupta's First West Asia Solo Exhibition 'Lines of Flight' Opens at Ishara Art Foundation
Ishara Art Foundation in Dubai presents 'Lines of Flight', Shilpa Gupta's first solo exhibition in West Asia, curated by Sabih Ahmed. The show spans works from 2006 to the present, including a new sound installation, site-specific interventions, sculptures, drawings, prints, and videos. Gupta's interdisciplinary practice challenges how identities are shaped by state and societal forces, focusing on mobility, control, and resilience. Key works include the sound installation 'Listening Air' with microphones reciting protest poetry, a wall drawing 'There is No Border Here' made of barrier tape, and 'Untitled' featuring shredded documents from the Bangladesh-India border. The exhibition is supported by Carl F. Bucherer, Emirates Insurance Company, Galleria Continua, neugerriemschneider, and Vadehra Art Gallery. Loans come from Art Jameel Collection, Pooja Jhaver, Ishara Art Foundation, and Prabhakar Collection.
