Shepard Fairey's Obey Takes Over Palazzo Ducale in Genoa
Following the Banksy exhibition still ongoing at Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara, Palazzo Ducale in Genoa opens a major show dedicated to street art giant Shepard Fairey, known as Obey, starting July 4. The exhibition features numerous works, including the iconic 2008 'Hope' poster depicting then-presidential candidate Barack Obama, and 'Angel of Hope and Strength', which portrays a nurse with celestial wings and a torch, honoring pandemic heroes. Curated by Gianluca Marziani and Stefano Antonelli, the show is produced by MetaMorfosi in collaboration with Palazzo Ducale Fondazione per la Cultura. It traces the American artist's journey from civil rights and anti-racist struggles to his tribute to healthcare workers during COVID-19.
