Shepard Fairey's first Italian retrospective opens at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan
An extensive exhibition focused on American street artist Shepard Fairey, widely recognized as Obey, will take place at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan from May to October 2024. Curated by Fairey alongside the Wunderkammern gallery, the show will highlight his recurring themes of propaganda, environment, music, and peace, displaying both iconic and site-specific artworks. Fairey first gained prominence in 2008 with his 'HOPE' poster for Barack Obama. His journey into street art began at the Rhode Island School of Design with the 'Andre the Giant Has a Posse' project. Among his notable creations are a mural of Nelson Mandela and the 'We The People' series. On May 22, he will unveil his inaugural mural in Milan's Gallaratese district during the Manifestival festival.
