SheClicks: Angela Nicholson on Building a Global Female Photography Community

Angela Nicholson founded SheClicks in 2018 as a Facebook group for women to share their passion for photography. What she expected to grow to a few hundred members over months reached 1,000 in its first month. Today, the community has over 12,000 members worldwide, offering free webinars, workshops, meetups, and a podcast launched in June 2023. Nicholson, who has worked in the UK since 2004 at a photographic printing studio and as Technical Editor for Amateur Photographer and Head of Testing for Future Publishing, observed a lack of women publishing in magazines and being chosen as brand ambassadors. SheClicks aims to highlight women's perspectives in photography and address industry challenges. The community hosts annual 'Big Meet-ups' in August to celebrate its anniversary, with events globally. Nicholson maintains independent relationships with major camera brands, often invited to pre-release product presentations.
