Sharjah Biennial Prize 2017 awarded to four artists including Dineo Seshee Bopape and İnci Eviner
In 2017, the Sharjah Biennial Prize honored four artists: Dineo Seshee Bopape, İnci Eviner, Uriel Orlow, and Walid Siti. A special posthumous award was also given to Ali Jabri, with funding set aside for preserving his artwork. The prize has been celebrating select biennial participants since its start in 1993. This year's jury included Dr. Yousif Aydabi from the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre for Gulf Studies, independent curator N’Goné Fall, and Adriano Pedrosa, the Artistic Director of Museu de Arte de São Paulo. The thirteenth edition, curated by Christine Tohme and named Tamawuj, ran from 10 March to 12 June 2017, as reported by the Sharjah Art Foundation.
