Sharjah Biennial 16 Reveals Full Artist List and 2025 Dates
The 16th Sharjah Biennial is set to take place from February 6 to June 15, 2025, at various sites throughout the Emirate. Featuring over 140 artists, the event will showcase more than 80 newly commissioned works. Curated by Alia Swastika, Amal Khalaf, Megan Tamati-Quennell, Natasha Ginwala, and Zeynep Öz, this biennial delves into the theme of carrying—encompassing both tangible items and intangible burdens across different times and spaces. Hoor Al Qasimi, President and Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation, emphasized that the curators' varied approaches foster engaging discussions that link local contexts to global themes of identity, movement, and community. The venues include Sharjah City, Al Hamriyah, Al Dhaid, Kalba, and Al Madam, with a diverse lineup of artists.
