Sharjah Art Foundation's Hoor Al-Qasimi Appointed ALECSO Ambassador Extraordinary for Arab Culture
On November 10, Sheikha Hoor Al-Qasimi, the president of the Sharjah Art Foundation, was appointed as the 2025–26 Ambassador Extraordinary for Arab Culture by ALECSO. Founded in 1970 in Tunis, ALECSO promotes educational and cultural projects across the Arab region. This honor acknowledges Al-Qasimi's leadership at the Sharjah Art Foundation, known for organizing the Sharjah Biennial. Additionally, she serves as president of the Africa Institute and the International Biennial Association, and is the artistic director for the sixth Aichi Triennale and the upcoming 2026 Biennale of Sydney. Earlier this year, she was awarded France's Order of Arts and Letters. Mohamed Ould Amar, ALECSO's director-general, expressed enthusiasm for working with Al-Qasimi to improve cultural initiatives.
