Sharjah Art Foundation Opens Three Photography-Centric Exhibitions
Under the direction of Hoor Al Qasimi, the Sharjah Art Foundation has inaugurated three exhibitions at the new Photography Gallery located in Al Manakh, Sharjah City, as well as at the Kalba Ice Factory. The exhibition titled "Image Keepers" presents over 50 pieces by 17 artists, exploring sociopolitical issues surrounding postcolonial identity, memory, migration, and diaspora from the last sixty years. Notable contributors include Amina Zoubir, Bani Abidi, and Zineb Sedira. Additionally, the permanent exhibition "Photographic Encounters along the Gulf Coasts" features 165 historical images from Sheikh Mohammed Al Qasimi, depicting the evolution of the Persian Gulf. Meanwhile, "Of Land and Water" at the Kalba Ice Factory showcases works by nine artists, inspired by the Malay phrase "tanah air," which relates to Indonesia's independence.
