Sharjah Art Foundation awards $200,000 production grants to seven artists
The Sharjah Art Foundation has awarded a total of $200,000 to seven artists as part of its biennial production programme grant, enabling them to develop new works. The selected artists include Mounira Al Solh, Doa Aly, Fatma Belkıs, Onur Gökmen, Taus Makhacheva, Joe Namy, and Ghassan Salhab. An international jury, featuring Hoor Al Qasimi, director of the Sharjah Art Foundation, Solange Oliveira Farkas from the Contemporary Art Festival SESC Videobrasil, and independent curator Zeynep Öz, evaluated the submissions from an open call. This programme, initiated in 2008, aims to foster artistic innovation throughout the MENASA region, with the grant amounting to roughly £143,000.
