Sharge's crowdfunding effort for the Disk Pro 2, an enhanced SSD hub, is approaching its conclusion. This updated model addresses various issues found in the original version. It boasts a quieter, smarter fan that can be completely disabled, a swappable internal SSD compatible with M.2 and B&M NVMe drives up to 8TB, and a broader array of ports including SD and microSD slots, totaling six. The integrated cable has been replaced with a detachable one, and the USB-C port has been redesigned for larger connectors. The fan, known as 'Ice Storm,' can reach 12,000 RPM (up from 10,000) and adjusts its speed based on SSD temperature. Sharge asserts that the fan lowers SSD temperatures by 30%. The campaign has garnered around $740,000, nearing the original's $760,000 goal, with shipments expected by October. Users can purchase the Disk Pro 2 without storage to install their own drives.
