Shanghai Prize Returns for Young Italian and Chinese Artists
After a three-year hiatus, the Shanghai Prize resumes, offering three young Italian and three young Chinese artists residencies in China and Italy to foster cultural exchange and artistic research. The third edition targets emerging artists aged 18-35, selected by a jury that has included Gillo Dorfles, Bartolomeo Pietromarchi, and Guido Curto. Winners will spend two months starting mid-October at East China Normal University in Shanghai and at a yet-to-be-determined location in Turin, where they will engage with local contexts to realize proposed works, culminating in exhibitions in their respective countries. Founded in 2011 by IGAV (Istituto Garuzzo per le Arti Visive), with support from Prof. Wei Shaonong of ECNU and the Italian Institute of Culture in Shanghai, the prize is a consolidated initiative. Rosalba Garruzzo, IGAV co-founder, emphasized the institute's commitment to supporting young Italian artists through collaborative projects. The application deadline is June 19, 2017, at 12:00 PM.
