Shanghai Art Scene Highlights from November 2016 Exhibitions and Fairs

Multiple exhibitions and art fair presentations were active in Shanghai during November 2016. The Rockbund Art Museum presented a Felix Gonzalez-Torres exhibition, introduced by director Larys Frogier, which remained on view through December 25. At Shanghart, works by Xu Zhen and Geng Jianyi were displayed, with Xu Zhen's 2016 piece "Eternity – Reclining Woman: Elbow, Othryades the Dying Spartan, Adorant" produced by MadeIn Company. A pop-up exhibition titled "Alex Katz: West Broadway and Spring," featuring Katz's 2015 painting "Christy," was presented by Timothy Taylor in collaboration with West Bund Art & Design. The ArtReview Asia Xiàn Chǎng program included Wang Shang's "Adenium Obesum" (2012–15) shown by Magician Space and Yutaka Sone's "Flying Chairs" (2016) presented by Tommy Simoens. Nina Canell's solo exhibition "Reflexology" at Leo Xu Projects featured her 2016 work "Halfway Between Opposite Ends." An installation view of Martin Creed's 2016 work "Understanding" was documented at Qiao Space. All photographic documentation was credited to David Terrien.
