Shamim M. Momin Appointed Director and Chief Curator of Bronx Museum

Shamim M. Momin has been appointed director and chief curator of the Bronx Museum in New York. She previously served as director of curatorial affairs at Seattle's Henry Art Gallery until 2024, where she organized exhibitions featuring artists including Gary Simmons, Kelly Akashi, and Diana Al-Hadid. Momin co-founded the public art nonprofit LAND (Los Angeles Nomadic Division) in 2009, which produces site-specific projects in Los Angeles. Her earlier career included twelve years as an associate curator of contemporary art at the Whitney Museum of American Art, where she co-curated the 2004 and 2008 Whitney Biennials. She succeeds Klaudio Rodriguez, who departed the Bronx Museum in August to join the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Florida. Momin's appointment coincides with a $43 million renovation of the museum's south wing.
