Shakespeare Breakfast Theatre in Florence's Oltrarno

Perelandra Teatro hosts Shakespeare for Breakfast on the first Sunday of each month through December at the Conventino, a literary café in Florence's Oltrarno district. The format, inspired by the Edinburgh Fringe Festival's Shakespeare for Breakfast, features original scripts based on Shakespeare's characters with a Tuscan twist of irony and irreverence. The performance includes scenes from Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew, Love's Labour's Lost, Othello, Twelfth Night, and Macbeth, with actors Francesco Barilli, Marco Bianchini, Verdiana Maria Dolce, and Chiara Macinai. The audience is invited to move between the cloister, upper floors, and staircase of the Conventino. Tickets cost €15 including breakfast, with performances at 10 AM and 11 AM. The company, founded in 2004 by Chiara Macinai, aims to perform outside traditional venues, engaging with places and people directly.
