Shakespeare and Contemporary Art at Fondazione Merz in Turin

Fondazione Merz in Turin presents "Siamo fatti della stessa sostanza dei sogni" (We are such stuff as dreams are made on), a group exhibition curated by Maria Centonze and Agata Polizzi for the 13th edition of the summer series Meteorite in Giardino. The show features works by Basim Magdy, Silvia Maglioni & Graeme Thomson, and Nina Carini, exploring dreamlike and liberating visions through contemporary art. The title references Shakespeare's "The Tempest" (Act IV, Scene I), inviting visitors to navigate existential mysteries. Magdy's video "M.A.G.N.E.T" follows a balloon on a surreal apocalyptic journey from Manhattan's sky to the Earth's center, allegorizing radical transformation. Maglioni & Thomson's "LIKE LICHENS LISTEN" combines video and word installation to evoke harmony between humans and landscape through forest sounds. Carini's "The indeterminacy of an encounter" features a water mirror reflecting light, sound, and matter vibrations. The exhibition runs until an unspecified date in 2021 at Fondazione Merz, Turin.
