Sgarbi's first year as Sutri mayor: exhibitions, street naming, and cultural hub plans

Vittorio Sgarbi, in his inaugural year as mayor of Sutri, inaugurated Palazzo Doebbing on September 14, 2018, following its renovations. The historic former bishop's residence showcased ten exhibitions, including Pelizza da Volpedo's "Passeggiata amorosa," until January 2019. Supported by Emmanuele Emanuele, it introduced "Dialoghi a Sutri" on April 25, 2019, displaying works by Titian, Bacon, and more. Sgarbi also honored fifteen streets with the names of distinguished Italians and arranged "Voci a Sutri" lectures. In December, he awarded honorary citizenship to Mimmo Lucano, the mayor of Riace. During the summer of 2018, George Clooney filmed "Catch-22" in Sutri. Although Sgarbi announced his resignation to pursue the mayoralty of Sirmione, he later retracted. Currently, Palazzo Doebbing serves as a historical museum featuring the bronze "Efebo di Sutri." On May 16, 2019, he convened with local mayors to enhance tourism.
