SFER IK Museion Launches $100k AI Art Award with Residency at AZULIK Uh May

SFER IK Museion has introduced a new $100,000 award for artists creating work with artificial intelligence, accompanied by a two-month residency at AZULIK Uh May in Mexico's Mayan jungle. The international competition seeks proposals addressing biodiversity, interspecies collaboration, ancestral knowledge, and the integration of science, technology, and nature. Applications will be accepted from September 12 to November 17, 2023. An international jury of artists and curators will select the winner, to be announced during Miami Art Week in December 2023. The winning artwork will be displayed at SFER IK's forthcoming open-air museum in Tulum, Mexico. Second and third prize winners will also receive art residencies. At the AZULIK creative campus, artists gain access to workshops, local artisans, and new digital facilities. The award is part of AZULIK's cultural initiatives under founder Eduardo Roth and Creative Director Marcello Dantas, as the organization prepares to open new museums in Tulum and AlUla, Saudi Arabia. Roth describes AI as an evolution of traditional artistic tools, emphasizing art's role in reconnecting with nature and ancestral memory. Proposals will be judged based on AI integration, thematic application, and feasibility.
