Seven International Biennials Opening Worldwide in 2019

In 2019, a total of seven prominent biennials are set to take place worldwide. Thailand's inaugural Bangkok Art Biennale, which features 33 international artists, is themed "Beyond Bliss" and will run until February 3, under the curation of Apinan Poshyananda. The 9th Biennale du Québec, curated by Jonathan Watkins, is scheduled from February 16 to April 21, showcasing artists such as Oliver Beer and Haroon Mirza. In India, the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, directed by Anita Dube, will continue until March 29. The Honolulu Biennial, directed by Nina Tonga, is set for March 8 to May 5. The 14th Sharjah Biennial, focusing on migration, will run from March 7 to June 10, curated by Zoe Butt, Omar Kholeif, and Claire Tancons. Oslo's first biennial will debut in May, curated by Eva González-Sancho and Per Gunnar Eeg-Tverbakk, while the 58th Venice Biennale, directed by Ralph Rugoff, will take place from May 11 to November 24.
