Seven finalists compete for Rome's Campus Bio-Medico masterplan

The Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma has selected seven architecture firms as finalists for an international competition to design a masterplan for its campus in Trigoria. The competition, launched in 2017 and curated by Luca Molinari, is part of the piùCampus 2015-2045 plan, a thirty-year strategy to expand the university's teaching, research, and healthcare facilities. The project covers 90 hectares and 186,000 square meters, including a simulation center, teaching spaces, a hospice, student housing, sports facilities, and social areas. The finalists are: Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia (with 'Viridi scripturas / Green flow(er)s. Tomorrow is the yesterday future'), Diller Scofidio + Renfro with Alvisi Kirimoto Partners ('A seed for the Campus Growth'), El Equipo Mazzanti ('Living Campus'), Labics with Topotek 1 ('Horti Academici'), Mario Cucinella Architects, Sauerbruch Hutton ('Livelli Di Apprendimento – Layers Of Learning'), and Xaveer De Geyter Architects ('Potentia Trium'). The jury includes architects, urbanists, rectors, scientists, and business developers. The project was recently presented at the MAXXI museum in Rome.
