Seven experiential installations at Milan Design Week 2026

festival-fair · 2026-04-24

Milan Design Week 2026 features seven experiential installations that engage sight, sound, smell, and interaction. At Fondazione Istituto dei Ciechi, transdisciplinary studio Dot Dot Dot and car-maker Geely present 'Anima Mundi. A Visionary Impulse', where a self-playing organ responds to visitor numbers and AI-generated imagery is projected on veils. Annabel Karim Kassar recreates the Greek myth of the Hesperides in the Orto Botanico di Brera with 'Garden of the Hesperides', part of the 'Interni Materiae' exhibition. Venetian artist Marco Nereo Rotelli's AI-driven 'Infinity' at Cortile della Farmacia uses environmental sensors and a generative AI soundscape by Alessio Bertallot, with poetic verses by Valerio Magrelli, in collaboration with Nobel Prize-winning climate scientist Riccardo Valentini. Tyre manufacturer Continental's 'The Sound of Premium' by WOA Studio at Base in the Tortona district addresses sound pollution with illuminated columns and promotes quieter tyres. Architect Lina Ghotmeh transforms Palazzo Litta's courtyard into a pink labyrinth called 'Metamorphosis in Motion', featuring scents of cypress, cedar, and olibanum. Dutch designer Rick Tegelaar's 'Oasis' at Spazio Adatto offers a meditative space with a lighting collection called 'Traces' and a scent by SOM Tales of Perfume. Grohe's 'Aqua Sanctuary' at Teatro Studio Melato focuses on wellbeing across three sanctums, including a collaboration with Buster + Punch for the Atrio Private Collection.
