SetUp Bologna Fair Moves to Historic Palazzo Pallavicini
SetUp Contemporary Art Fair, Bologna's alternative to Arte Fiera, is relocating from the Autostazione to Palazzo Pallavicini, a 15th-century palace in the historic center. The private venue, where Mozart performed in 1770, will open to the public from September 2017. The fair's format remains unchanged: artists under 35 presented by curators under 35, with one project per booth. However, the number of galleries will drop from 60 to 30–35 in 2018, prioritizing quality over quantity. The dates shift to the first weekend of February (2–4), following Arte Fiera's schedule. The theme is 'Attesa' (Waiting), inspired by Saint Augustine. Organizers Simona Gavioli and Alice Zannoni emphasize that the move signals a new direction, shedding the underground label of the old venue while maintaining a focus on emerging art. The change echoes the boutique fair model of Granpalazzo but retains SetUp's unique format.
