Sesc Avenida Paulista presents 'Cartas à Memória' exhibition exploring Asian diaspora experiences

The exhibition 'Cartas à Memória,' curated by Yudi Rafael, is currently being held at Sesc Avenida Paulista in São Paulo. Featuring 90 pieces from 29 artists across the Americas and Asia, it runs from November 14 to May 3. This showcase delves into themes of art, politics, identity, and memory related to the Asian diaspora, drawing inspiration from Karen Tei Yamashita's 2017 publication. Visitors can view paintings, photographs, videos, and installations that reflect on repression and resistance within Asian communities in Brazil, the U.S., and Central America. Highlights include works by Corky Lee (1947–2021), René Mederos (1933–1996), and Tuan Andrew Nguyen (born 1976). The exhibition is open Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 to 21:30 and on weekends from 10:00 to 18:30.
