Sertão Arquitetos Renovates Quetzal House in São Francisco Xavier

architecture-design · 2026-08-13

In 2025, the renovation of Quetzal House (Casa Quetzal) was completed by Sertão Arquitetos, under the direction of Raquel Rangel and Julio de Luca. This 105 m² home is situated in São Francisco Xavier, a district within São José dos Campos, Brazil, nestled in the Mantiqueira Mountains and surrounded by the Atlantic Forest and rural architecture. The redesign adapts the internal layout to better accommodate the new inhabitants while maintaining the essence of the original structure. Thaís Menegali and Isabella Machado were part of the team, with materials supplied by Nina Martinelli and Portobello Shop. Guilherme Uemura captured the photographs, and the project was curated by Susanna Moreira, fitting into the Houses and Interior Design categories. The initial text was in Portuguese and translated for ArchDaily.
