Serralves em Luz: Light Installations Transform Porto Park After Dark
The second edition of Serralves em Luz transforms the 18-hectare urban park of Fundação Serralves in Porto into a dreamlike nocturnal landscape, featuring 25 site-specific light installations that engage with nature and the public. Artistic director Nuno Maya, with the Serralves team, curated works by international lighting designers using LED, lasers, electroluminescent wires, interactive motion sensors, and video projections. The sensory path begins at Álvaro Siza's Museu de Arte Contemporânea with optical effects, continues through a rose garden, and includes contributions from OLAB collective (interactive projectors), Sophie Guyot (giant flowers), Tamar Frank (light circles), Tilen Sepič (rotating spheres), and video-mapping on Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira. The highlight is the chromatic transformation of Casa de Serralves, a unique Art Deco building. By day, the villa hosts 'Signos e figurações,' a retrospective of Joan Miró curated by Robert Lubar Messeri, featuring works from Porto's municipal collection, on view until October 2, 2022. Serralves em Luz runs until October 15, 2022.
