Serpentine North Hosts Panel on 'Radio Ballads' Exhibition with Artists and Curators

exhibition · 2026-04-20

A panel discussion exploring the conceptual framework of the 'Radio Ballads' exhibition will be held at Serpentine North on Friday 13 May 2022. Artists Helen Cammock and Rory Pilgrim will join Serpentine curator Amal Khalaf and New Town Culture curator Marijke Steedman in conversation with ArtReview Editor-in-Chief Mark Rappolt. The event begins at 6pm, with entry from 5:30pm, and will run until 8pm at the gallery's London location. This talk coincides with the exhibition, which presents new film commissions by Sonia Boyce, Helen Cammock, Rory Pilgrim, and Ilona Sagar, alongside paintings, drawings, and research materials. These works were created over three years through collaborations with social workers, carers, organizers, and communities in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, facilitated by the council's New Town Culture programme. The exhibition, on view until 29 May 2022, investigates stories of labor and care dynamics. The panel will examine how art practices can contribute to systemic transformation, addressing the central themes of the show.
