Serpentine Gallery Announces 2025 Program with Arpita Singh, Giuseppe Penone, Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley
The Serpentine Gallery in London has unveiled its 2025 program, featuring exhibitions by Arpita Singh, Giuseppe Penone, and Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley, alongside the return of Park Nights and a new pavilion. The season opens in March 2025 with "Remembering," Arpita Singh's first solo exhibition outside India, highlighting pioneering artists who have not yet received due recognition in London—a series that previously featured Faith Ringgold, Luchita Hurtado, James Barnor, and Barbara Chase-Riboud. In April, the Serpentine South Gallery will host a comprehensive survey of Italian artist Giuseppe Penone (born 1947), his largest in a UK institution. The autumn program begins with Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley (born 1995), whose exhibition blends lived experience and fiction through video game mechanics, encouraging public participation to focus on individual choices and their power to shape narratives. This project is commissioned by Serpentine Arts Technologies, which has collaborated with the artist since 2021, when she contributed to "Future Art Ecosystems 2: Art x Metaverse." The interdisciplinary Park Nights series will take place inside the new Serpentine Pavilion, featuring performances, music, film, theater, dance, literature, philosophy, fashion, and technology. Current exhibitions include Lauren Halsey's "emajendat" and Holly Herndon and Mat Dryhurst's "The Call," both on view until February 2, 2025.
