Sergio Sini Retrospective at Web Art Gallery Treviso

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The Web Art Gallery in Treviso presents 'La Stanza Rossa', a virtual exhibition series conceived by gallerist Franco Fonzo during the first COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. The project aims to continue showcasing art online, with video introductions by art critic Ombretta Frezza. The current retrospective, 'La mia Treviso', focuses on Sergio Sini (1924-1986), a self-taught painter from Treviso. Sini was inspired by masters like Leonardo da Vinci and was a contemporary of artists such as Nesi, Dinetto, Barbisan, Comisso, Darzino, and Benetton. His preferred subjects include the Veneto countryside, Valdobbiadene, the Dolomites, and intimate views of Treviso, notably the Canale dei Buranelli. During World War II, he was imprisoned in a concentration camp in Halle, Germany (1943-1945), from which he escaped. Sini is recognized as a 'colorist', known for vibrant chromatic juxtapositions that create a sense of movement and luminosity, often dissolving form into abstract, informal outcomes. The selected works effectively portray his era and artistic evolution.
