Sergio Mario Illuminato's 'iosonovulnerabile' Exhibition at Villa Altieri in Rome

The exhibition 'iosonovulnerabile', curated by Sergio Mario Illuminato, runs until February 11, 2025, at Villa Altieri in Rome, transforming the former prison into a multidisciplinary atelier. The project began in 2023 with a six-month residency at the former Pontifical Prison of Velletri, a building constructed in 1861 and abandoned in 1991. Illuminato invited artists, photographers, dancers, musicians, and filmmakers to share the space, later opening the prison to visitors for three months. After a second stop in France, the project arrived at Villa Altieri, an ex-prison in Rome. There, Illuminato involved students from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma and the Istituto di Istruzione Superiore Piaget Diaz. The exhibition features fifteen works on canvas titled 'Organismi Artistici Comunicanti', made with natural materials like tree bark, metals, wax, and gauze, which evolve over time through exposure to natural agents. The show also includes the photographic series 'Terre Rare' in the garden, the short film 'Vulnerare' documenting the Velletri prison, and weekly performances starting in January. Illuminato cites Pasolini as a reference, emphasizing the need for multiple art forms to represent reality.
