Sergio Limonta's Rainbow Neon Installation at BUILDING Milan

Sergio Limonta (Lecco, 1972) has transformed the Terzo Piano of BUILDING gallery in Milan into a rainbow-lit environment, using industrial materials like metal parts, lights, and electrical wires to create site-specific works that alter spatial perception. The exhibition includes 'Love is in the air', a neon piece reminiscent of Dan Flavin's light installations at Villa Panza in Varese, but reinterpreted through Limonta's dialogue with surrounding works. The artist's practice explores the concept of perpetual availability in contemporary life, turning readily available industrial elements into art. The show runs parallel to Fabrizio Cotognini's exhibition on other floors, creating a stark contrast with the neutral tones of the historic building. Limonta's work 'Graffiti' constructs a false wall that parallels the original perimeter, while the neon tubes mounted on dark easels cast pink rays onto the rainbow walls and hanging metal components, immersing viewers in a reflective atmosphere about the transformation of industrial matter into art.
